Nick LaPointe was essentially born into the pool service business and now that his mom and dad have retired, he’s determined to continue to grow the family business. In addition to a business degree from San Diego State University, LaPointe has taken the PHTA Executive Leadership and Emerging Leadership programs with Cornell. Though he has no plans of being a pool builder, he’s even working through the PHTA construction courses to become a Certified Master Builder to provide even more expertise to his customers. He’s also enrolled employees in the PSATC apprenticeship program. “One of my core values is ‘growth,’ ” LaPointe says. “I apply that to all facets of my life whether personal or business.” Eventually, LaPointe would like to help bring about national licensing requirements for pool service technicians to raise the professionalism of the industry.
