Lauren Broom is the owner of Space Coast Pool School, LLC for the past 12 years. She is a PHTA®
Authorized Instructor. She attended college at the University of Central Florida where she received a
Bachelor of Science in Biology. She holds her Registered Sanitarian, R.S. with the National Environmental
Health Association (certification in public health). Lauren has 17 years of experience in the inspection of
commercial public pools in Florida as an inspector from the Florida Department of Health along with
recreational waterborne disease outbreak investigations. She enjoys educating aquatic professionals on
the importance of maintaining a swimming pool facility for the health and safety of their patrons.

through one-on-one education. Education and regulation go hand-in-hand rather than public
health always having to be punitive and that concept should never be forgotten.”

In 2021 Lauren became an authorized OSHA trainer for the OSHA 10 in General Industry course. She was
the first educational instructor to try to break the barrier by teaching this type of course in the pool
industry. Her intention is to be able to teach these courses for the aquatic industry to improve
workplace health and safety practices.

Lauren volunteered for different PHTA councils and committees such as, the PHTA CPO Advisory Council
and the PHTA-2 Standard Writing Committee. In 2019, she became an adjunct instructor for Valencia College’s Accelerated Skills Training Team to teach the Certified Pool Operator Course® CPO® as part of their new 10 week Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician certification in Osceola and Orange County campuses. Lauren will be joining as an instructor with Gold Coast Schools in 2023 helping to teach part of the Florida State Certified Swimming Pool Contractor Exam Prep Course.

On a personal note, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and three children ages 19, 16, and 6
in Florida. She enjoys the challenge of owning her own business while still being able to balance time
with her family. “I get to do what I love, which is educating people within our industry while still being more
present for my family. It’s a plus in all categories!”
