Elizabeth McMurray is the Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA). She joined FSPA in 2021 and has led the organization to all-time highs in terms of operational stability, fundraising revenue, and mission momentum.
In three years, Elizabeth has redefined success for both the Association and Florida’s pool industry. She has led the effort to present the annual Everything Under the Sunsm Expo, the preeminent pool and spa expo in the southwestern United States. The 2024 Expo marked several historic feats for FSPA: it was the highest attended Expo with nearly 5,500 attendees and is the second-highest revenue-generating Expo in the event’s 50+ year history.
She has also shaped key initiatives that drive the mission behind both FSPA and the Florida Swims Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit arm of the organization. She and her team have collaborated with state legislators to pass critical legislation including the state-wide Swim Lesson Voucher Bill and the federal SWIM Act, which will incorporate swim lessons as qualified health expenses through HSA programs nationwide. Under her tenure the Florida Swims Foundation was also named in state legislation establishing a dedicated mission Swim for Life license plate, where all proceeds will benefit swim lessons across the state of Florida.
Under her leadership, FSPA underwent a full rebranding in 2024 and saw growth throughout the Association’s fifteen active state-wide chapters. She has also maintained key strategic partnerships with organizations including Every Child A Swimmer and Step Into Swim to provide three times more funding for swim lessons for children across Florida.
Elizabeth is no stranger to the pool industry. Prior to her tenure at FSPA, she served as Director of Operations at Jack’s Magic Products for seven years. She also served as Chief Operating Officer at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce for three years, where she gained important association and nonprofit management experience.
Elizabeth embodies the hard work, dedication and passion that defines professionals in the pool industry. She guides both her state office staff and her Board of Directors towards enriching and expanding Florida’s pool and spa industry to new heights. She is more than deserving of Pool Nation’s Woman Trailblazer of the Year moniker – she is a woman that defines it.
