As far back as she can remember, Deborah Martin was poolside helping her dad at his pool service company — she even had her own route by 15. In 2002 she moved to California to take over an uncle’s business after he died. She’s had to rebuild the company many times thanks to the curveballs of life, but now she has four employees, an office manager and provides warranty work for Fluidra. Martin has even started education for others in the industry. “Being a woman in the industry, we have to work so much harder to get recognized and taken seriously by other companies and customers,” she says. “I want to be able to help boost another female’s confidence to do her job at a high standard.
